During a conversation with a 93-year-old atheist philosopher, Eugenio Scalfari, the 266th and current pope of the Catholic church said that hell doesn't exist, adding that the disappearance of the souls of sinners is what exists, The Times reported. Pause9ja notes that Scalfari, who is the founder of one of Italy's leading newspapers, La Repubblica, said he reconstructed the conversation from memory, without taking notes or using a recorder. 
The pope said: “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and go among the ranks of the souls who contemplate him. But those who do not repent, and therefore cannot be forgiven, disappear.” During the five years of his pontificate, Francis has laid emphasis on the mercy of God rather than the severity of his judgment. According to traditional church teaching, those who die as sinners face eternal punishment by unquenchable fire in hell. Speaking at St Peter’s Square in 2017, the pope said that judgment was not to be feared because “at the end of our history there is the merciful Jesus”. He had on another occasion described heaven as a place where the just go to be rewarded, and as “an immense tent, where God will welcome all mankind”. 
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that there was serious panic in Nigeria over reports that Pope Francis was considering shutting down a total of 163 parishes of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara in Imo state, following the alleged refusal of some priests to accept the appointment of Peter Okpaleke as bishop. It was reported that Okpaleke was appointed four years ago to replace late Bishop Victor Chikwe but had been rejected by Reverend Fathers of Mbaise extraction and the Laity. He announced the results and asked for people to pray for the children who would be traumatised by the turn of events. He said: “I am sorry and deeply disappointed to inform you that DNA results have shown that I am not the biological father of Elton, Hellen, Kamwadi and Lucy Ngwira. As you would understand, we have a crisis in the family and as an immediate measure I have separated from Miriam while the parents discuss the way forward. Please pray for the children who shall be traumatised by this unwanted situation.”

The incident happened on Wednesday.
A hotel proprietor in the same Galadima told newsmen that the late Precious Nety, who is of Benue origin lodged the client in her room and they both slept, but surprisingly to her neighbours, as the day broke, they neither saw the deceased nor her client while her room was locked from outside.
“Upon suspicion after trying all means to locate her, the room’s door was broken and to the shock of everyone, her lifeless body was found in the toilet with her throat slit and knife scars on her hands.
“The unknown killer client also fled with the late Miss Nety’s Plasma Television and other valuables, and so far, two other hotels in the area including the Galaxy hotel where the incident occurred is under lock by the police. There is serious tension in the whole of the area which has equally affected patronage, as people are keeping off to avoid arrest,” the proprietor said.
Confirming the incident, the Borno state Police Public Relations Officer , DSP Edet Okon, said the case was reported to the Command.
“Two arrests have been made. We acted on the information received and investigation is ongoing. We are in the process of arresting more people and investigation is ongoing,” DSP Okon said.

Ringim Ismail, a 300-level student of Jigawa State College of Legal Studies has confessed to stabbing his girlfriend to death.
The suspect said he slit the throat of his girlfriend for refusing to terminate a pregnancy she had for him out of wedlock.
Jigsaw Police command on Saturday accused Mr Ismail of being behind the murder of Salamatu Garba, 22, of Kofar Gaba’s quarters in Jahun LGA of Jigawa State.
The 22-year-old suspect narrating what led to the incident said on the fateful day, he took the woman on a motorcycle to the outskirts of the town, then used a jack-knife to slit her throat and left her in a pool of her blood after she had collapsed at the spot.
“I took her to the outskirt of the town at around 9 p.m. on a motorcycle that I borrowed from a friend. I snuffed life out her after I slit her throat with a jack knife. She was four months pregnant for me and I decided to kill her for refusing to agree to an abortion.
“I killed her alone, none of my friends followed me,” he confessed.
Police spokesperson in Jigawa State, Abdu Jinjiri, confirming the incident said the suspect would be charged to court to face the wrath of the law for his actions.

6 ways to keep a solid relationship

Intimate relationships are an essential part of our humanity. To keep yours vibrant and long-lasting, you’re likely already aware of how you excite and attract each other and also how you show compassion. But there are subtler ways that you may be missing which can be vital to the longevity of your loving bond.
1. SPOON IN BED You accept that sex is a significant part of a lasting relationship, but you may not know that sleeping physically close to one another results in increased happiness . A study conducted at the University of Hertfordshire revealed that partners who slept within an inch of one another were far more content with their relationship than those who slept more than 30 inches apart. Physical contact ups the ante even more as shown by the 94 percent of couples who touched throughout the night who were happy with their relationship compared to 68 percent of those who did not touch.  To increase contentment and togetherness, get close at night … spoon, cuddle, touch.
2. DO RANDOM ACTS OF GENEROSITY Giving one another little surprises reinforces an inner knowingness that your partner was thinking about you and considering your needs.  Spontaneously offer each other a back massage or suggest doing something that you know your mate would love , or put a heart-felt greeting card on your love’s pillow, or buy something special. Studies conducted at various universities reveal that giving—even small acts of generosity—helps us live more meaningful lives. Plus those benevolent gestures generate good chemical changes in the brain as more oxytocin is released enhancing your bond.
3. LET GO OF ATTACHMENT We often get caught up in trying to manage and control our partner’s behavior.  We set up expectations and when they’re not met, we become angry or distant. So what if he tells that silly joke for the 100th time! So what if she loses track of time and misses picking up the dry cleaning! We can get so attached to an outcome that we lose sight of what’s really important. The same applies to arguments and conflicts. Try to step back and remind yourself of the bigger picture and what’s truly valuable in being together. Mindfulness will allow you to stay focused on the positive things which helps the relationship become more effortless.
4. BE PRESENT AND IN THE NOW When you’re together, be engaged and focused on the moment. Turn off distractions (TVs, computers, cellphones) and spend time with each other being present. Consciously select a period to talk and listen, perhaps over dinner. Or choose to do an activity together that you both enjoy and be totally absorbed in the experience without thinking about work, chores, etc. The key is to revel in the now and recognize what is right in front of you. Instead of worrying about something that might not happen, enjoy something that IS happening.
5. LAUGH OFTEN Besides being fun, laughter releases feel-good endorphins that improve mood, reduce stress and heighten energy. Share jokes, watch funny movies together or browse the Internet for sidesplitting sayings. Notice the humorous moments throughout the day and share them. Sometimes daily challenges—traffic, lines at the grocery store, etc.—can become amusing anecdotes. Even major trials can be dealt with more easily when viewed together from a less serious perspective. So just laugh, laugh, laugh!
6. APPRECIATE THE SMALL STUFF Showing gratitude is a biggie. Take the time to acknowledge that he fixed the broken lamp or made the bed or refueled your car. For guys, notice the every day acts she does to make your life together smoother and better. Appreciate the dinner she cooked or the text she sent in the middle of the day just to tell you she was thinking about you.  Expressing gratitude is a positive reminder of how you view each other and that you never take your partner for granted. You can never overuse the words "Thank you."

For some reason people who do not suffer from mental illness like to use the phrase “it’s all in your head.” Well, for those who may think that I assure you, it is NOT all in our heads.
Mental illness is REAL illness. Most mental illnesses have tons of physical symptoms and can be associated throughout the body, not just the ‘head.’ Being depressed is so much more than being sad and dealing with an anxiety disorder is not just worrying a little too much. There is more to it than you care to realize.
To help those who do not understand the physical symptoms of mental illnesses in general below you will find a list of symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. Depression is something that affects about 350 million people worldwide and anxietyaffects 40 million adults in the US alone. These are things so many people are experiencing, dismissing their illnesses is not going to make their problems just disappear.

12 Physical Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety:

1. Headaches/Migraines

Headaches are associated with both depression and anxiety. This can be mild or severe depending on you specifically. This is quite frustrating and for some the headaches are neverending, to say the least.

2. Dizziness/Lightheadedness

This one is also associated with both anxiety and depression. It can come on all at once or slowly progress. For me it comes and goes, if my anxiety is really getting to me I will sometimes become lightheaded but again everyone is different. Depression in itself is often described as a numb or lightheaded feeling.

3. Back Pain

This one is more commonly associated with depression. Depression is actually closely linked with lots of different forms of chronic pain as you will see the further you continue on. Depression symptoms in general also make pain feel much worse than it is.

4. Digestive Issues

Yes, depression can literally cause you to have diarrhea or to become constipated. Digestive upsets come in many forms and depression is one of them. When this happens your bowels may not act the same.

5. Muscle Aches/Joint Pain

Depression manifests itself in a lot of cases as physical aches and pains. These offer no obvious cause, but they do have an underlying issue. Depression is very real.

6. Chest Pain

This one can be associated with both depression and anxiety, but I have found is more common in those with anxiety. It can sometimes literally feel like you are having a heart attack. This is terrifying to experience and scarring for those close to you who have to see it.

7. Sleeping Issues

Sleeping issues go along with both as well. You stay up worrying so you are unable to sleep or you are so depressed that sleep is all you can do. Your body is literally exhausted.

8. Chest Pressure/Tightness

This one comes more often with anxiety and can be a sign of something underlying, but for the most part is simply your body reacting to the stress your mind is going through. This can be extremely hard to deal with. I for one cannot stand when my chest becomes tight like this.

9. Breathing Difficulties

Breathing difficulties are often associated with anxiety. The more worked up you get the worse this becomes. For some this doesn’t happen, but for most it is a very big part of their anxiety disorder.

10. Nausea

This one can be associated with both depression and anxiety. I for one feel this one strongly. Growing up when I would get overly anxious my nausea would literally make me vomit, as gross as that may seem.

11. Sweating

People with anxiety know this to be all too true. When I am becoming anxious my hands tend to sweat and I cannot control it. While it is not one of the more severe symptoms it is quite frustrating.

12. Shaking

If you have ever seen someone having or experienced firsthand an anxiety attack you know all about this. The more nerved out you get the worse you shake. My hands cannot stay still when I am dealing with my anxiety. While I can usually control it to an extent it is pretty annoying as well.
If you or someone you care about suffers from mental illness of any kind don’t ever let anyone say “it’s all in your head.” You are valid and your illness is valid. If someone is struggling to understand the seriousness of what you are going through please feel free to share this with them.
