Student stabbed lover to death, see his reasons!

Student stabbed lover to death, see his reasons!

Ringim Ismail, a 300-level student of Jigawa State College of Legal Studies has confessed to stabbing his girlfriend to death.
The suspect said he slit the throat of his girlfriend for refusing to terminate a pregnancy she had for him out of wedlock.
Jigsaw Police command on Saturday accused Mr Ismail of being behind the murder of Salamatu Garba, 22, of Kofar Gaba’s quarters in Jahun LGA of Jigawa State.
The 22-year-old suspect narrating what led to the incident said on the fateful day, he took the woman on a motorcycle to the outskirts of the town, then used a jack-knife to slit her throat and left her in a pool of her blood after she had collapsed at the spot.
“I took her to the outskirt of the town at around 9 p.m. on a motorcycle that I borrowed from a friend. I snuffed life out her after I slit her throat with a jack knife. She was four months pregnant for me and I decided to kill her for refusing to agree to an abortion.
“I killed her alone, none of my friends followed me,” he confessed.
Police spokesperson in Jigawa State, Abdu Jinjiri, confirming the incident said the suspect would be charged to court to face the wrath of the law for his actions.

Why your Jamb result is held - Jamb

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has given insight into why it is withholding the results of 111,981 candidates who participated in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The spokesperson for the Board, Fabian Benjamin, told PREMIUM TIMES the results of the affected candidates were earmarked for further screening over suspicion they engaged in examination malpractices.
“Some of the malpractices were centre-induced,” Mr. Benjamin said. “So entire centres were cancelled. Some are individual cases. There are centres that colluded with candidates. Maybe their owners collected monies from the candidates and were dictating answers. They were caught on camera.
“There were candidates who went into the examination halls with materials that were banned. Telephone handsets and other materials were found on some of them.
“There were even candidates who attempted to change the IP addresses of the computer systems assigned to them.”
JAMB had installed CCTV cameras in all centres used for the examination, and proceedings at the centres were closely monitored from a control room at the board’s headquarters in Abuja.
Mr. Benjamin said all cases of malpractices, including those caught on cameras, were being scrutinised and that JAMB would ensure that everyone who violated the rules of the examination were punished.
Asked if the results of some of the affected candidates might eventually be released, the spokesperson said, “I can’t say. It depends on the outcomes of the investigations. We are being fair and diligent in the screening to ensure injustice is not done to anyone.”
JAMB had on Sunday announced the release of results of 1,502,978 candidates after considering reports from its supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians who it said took interest in promoting the quality of public examination in Nigeria.
A total of 1,652,825 candidates registered for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with 350 of them being visually-challenged.

Education, as all parents and guardians admit, is a long-term investment with an equally long gestation period, but it is one of the best legacies to bequeath to individuals, groups and society. That has been the belief of Shell Nigeria since 1952. In 2014, $14.8 million was invested in scholarships by the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo).
The University Scholarship Scheme, a programme run by SPDC on behalf of the NNPC/Shell/Elf/Agip Joint Venture, makes a quiet but very profound commentary on the company’s interest in the promotion of capacity building in the country.
Every year, more than 4,000 Nigerian undergraduates write aptitude tests to join the evergrowing list of students which Shell Nigeria supports in Nigerian Universities. The applicants are shortlisted on the basis of the national SSCE and JAMB examination results. This is followed by an aptitude test at the PortHarcourt, Warri, Enugu, Lagos and Abuja centres.
There are two categories of the Scholarship Scheme, the National Merit Award (NM), open to Nigerian undergraduates and Areas of Operation Merit Award (AOM), for students from communities in which Shell Nigeria operates. Only first year students are eligible for the awards in both categories.
An average of 16,000 applicants respond to advertisements by Shell Nigeria every year, inviting qualified candidates to apply for the scholarships which are tenable only in Nigerian Universities.
Secondary School Scholarship
The Shell Nigeria Secondary School Scholarship Scheme is for host communities in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo and Rivers states.
Every year, an average of 2,600 post-primary scholarships are awarded in the seven states. The Secondary School Scholarship Scheme is to help students pay through school, as well as enhance academic achievement in host communities.
The scheme, which is also a welcome relief for many parents and guardians in the education of their children, has become so popular that annually, thousands of parents and children look forward to it as a golden opportunity.
Indeed, it has today become a welcome feature of educational development, especially in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria.
The Shell scholarship programme commenced in the 1950s. with awards to qualified Nigerians in various fields of study, both within and outside Nigeria. Many of them returned home to occupy key positions in public service, commerce and industry.

Shell Scholars’ Forum – Promoting Academic Excellence in Nigeria
Over 14,000 people have passed through Shell’s scholarship programmes over the past 50 years. Most of these scholars have excelled in their various fields and occupy exalted positions in commerce, banking, industry, academia etc.
The forum provides a common platform for networking and relationship-building among the scholars, afford them the opportunity not only to contribute to future improvements in SPDC’s education strategy, but also provide communiqués that may positively influence government policies on education. The forum would also serve as a platform to impact the younger generation of scholars and help address the educational challenges of today.

UTME finally announced when candidate should check their results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has urged its 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to patiently await the results of the just concluded examinations. The head of media of the board, Fabian Benjamin, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday, March 17, in Abuja. He said the board was working diligently to ensure that the results are processed and posted on the board’s website soonest. READ ALSO: Tension in legislature as Saraki, Dogara bicker over plot to override Buhari on Electoral Act Amendment Benjamin said that modalities were being put in place to ensure all the results are transparent and accurate. He reiterated that the board was delaying some of the results because each has to undergo total scrutiny before being posted on its website to avoid cancellations later. According to him, some of the results would be ready by Monday, March 19. He also assured that all technical difficulties encountered to access the website were being addressed.  Some of candidates who sat for the examinations earlier, were yet to receive their results. While some said that they received the reply of “your results are not ready yet”, others complained that the site says “you did not register for this examination.’’ The examination, which was scheduled to end on Saturday, March 17, ended on Friday, March 16. Meanwhile, Pause9ja had reported that following complaints by some Muslim stakeholders in the country, the WAEC made some minor adjustments in its timetable for the 2018 May/June WASSCE. WAEC’s director of public affairs, Demianus Ojijeogu said on Saturday, March 17, that the board had to adjust the timetable to accommodate the interests of Muslims.
